What a day the Bays High Men’s Cross Country Junior Varsity Team had early this evening at the 31st Open Door Invitational. Although the rain let up this afternoon the Lorain County Metro Parks Royal Oaks course was still damp, with many standing puddles, making for a fun and surprisingly fast day. Giving up just a little front position to the second and fourth place teams, the underclassman Rockets controlled the main front pack from early on. The first six runners all finished in the top 15 out of 188 runners. The six also met the first half of our tough varsity letter standard of 18:15 and they were only separated by the small margin of 23 seconds.
Ezra Fleeman and Logan Yessayan crossed the finish line in fifth and sixth place, running
17:51 and 17:52 to pace the team to the victory. Logan and many of his teammates ran
personal records in this event. In 9th place Sam Young ran a pr time of 18:03. Jacob Feicks came in 11th with his 18:10 run. Kenzie Deibel was the early leader for the team,
and his efforts paid off for him as he lowered his best time about 7 seconds to 18:12.
Adrian Woods, the trivia question hero from last Wednesday, had a big drop in time all the way down to 18:14 to finish in 15th place. Many of other young men also had fine races and new personal best times. This Saturday the team travels to Youngstown, for the Spartan Invitational
