For the second week in a row the Bay Rockets Men’s Cross Country team was up to the challenge of racing some of Ohio’s largest schools. After last weeks fine showing at Galion, the team did a little better this week, claiming the title in the Todd Clark race at Cloverleaf High School. Will Warren was Bay’s top performer on this day, with a fine race for eighth place. Times were quite a bit slower today with the high near 90 and the extended new finishing route into the stadium. Khaled Hamil was the next finisher in 9th, just five seconds behind Will in 17:10. Jude Ault ran 17:29 for 14th. Kenzie Deibel and Trevor Ifft finished Bay’s scoring with 23rd and 24th place finishes. Jacob Feicks, who joined the varsity ranks this week after his impressive win in the Galion Festival open race last week, again had a nice effort as he was the top 6th man in the 16 team race, placing 35th in 18:15.
The open race crew continued their string of champions, as Michael Muccio won again in
18:20, to go with his Tiffin Carnival title. A Bay runner has now won every Men’s open race thus far in the 2019 season. In todays race, Michael took the lead after the second mile and pulled away to best the other 274 finishers. Finishing third after setting the pace in the first half was Simon Miedza, who hung tough to break 19 minutes again and help Bay earn a low score of 70 points in the 14 team field, good for second behind Massillon Jackson. Luke Hansen also moved up well at the end to claim 11th place. Cooper Lyons, 22nd, was Bay’s forth scorer, doing a fine job of holding his position in the third mile. Adrian Woods and Freshman Ian Ray kept the Rockets in good standing with 33rd and 42nd place finishes. This Friday and Saturday the team will be at Gilmour Academy and Vermilion High School
