Girls Track find success at their home Rocket Invitational on Saturday winning the meet with 125 points!
On the track, Chloe Rickson and Linden Ifft qualified for finals in the 100m dash to finish 2nd and 5th in the event running 13.00 and 13.60 seconds. In the 200m dash, Makaela Mertic and Ifft also advanced to finals to finish fourth (Ifft) and fifth (Mertic). In the 400m dash, Lexie Bechtel ran the fourth best time of the day crossing the line in 1:04.84 and Julia Garber added an 8th place finish running 1:09.71. In the 800m run, Olivia Reed made her debut in the 800 finishing 3rd with her time of 2:34.56 and Annie Lang added a 4th place finish running 2:42.32. Mackenzie Reinke competed in the 1600m run to finish 4th running a time of 5:57.72. In the 3200m run, Meredith Garrity and Olivia Bird finish 2nd and 3rd crossing the line in 12:23.00 and 12:24.14, respectively. In the 100mH, Maeve Milligan and Kora Lambert finish 4th and 6th in the event running times of 17.82 and 19.85, respectively. Lambert also added a 5th place finish in the 300mH running it in 56.20 seconds.
In the relay events, the 4×100 team of Rickson, Carly Elliott, Mertic, and Ifft finish 2nd in 52.52 seconds. The 4×200 team of Rickson, Ransom, Mertic, and Ifft win the event running a season best time of 1:51.59 for a meet record. In the 4×400, the team of Ransom, Bechtel, Garber, and Reed finished 4th crossing the line in 4:37.57. Also finishing 4th, the 4×800 relay team of Garrity, Reinke, Lang, and Ransom ran a time of 10:52.96
In the field events, Reed entered a jump off for 1st place and came out victorious clearing 5 feet, 0 inches. Milligan continues to be undefeated in the pole vault matching her school record effort of 11 feet, 0 inches for the win. Milligan also set a new meet record in the event. Summer Reid added a 4th place finish clearing 7 feet, 6 inches. In the shot put, Kenna Johnston was our top finisher placing 3rd with her best throw of 33 feet, 2 inches. Sophie Beauchesne added an 8th place finish with her best toss of 24 feet, 11 inches. In the discus, Johnston finished 4th in the event with her mark of 101 feet, 9 inches and Beauchesne adds another 8th place finish throwing 70 feet, 5 inches.
Rockets are back on the track on Wednesday, April 17 for the Trinity Invitational.
