What a race for the Bay Men’s Cross Country team this afternoon at a cool and damp Youngstown Boardman Regional course. Behind the combined efforts of Hamil, Warren and Ault the Rockets posted only 25 points for their first three scoring runners. That total added to the scoring of Jacob Feicks and Kenzie Deibel led the team to the second place finish in the field of 19 talented regional qualifying schools. In perhaps his finest cross country race yet to date, Khaled Hamil became one of the few Ohio runners to crack the Woodridge top 5, with an expert race for fifth place, timed in 16:25. Will Warren came next in tenth, running a most determined looking race to keep pace with some outstanding competition, posting a 16:42. Jude Ault looked like last seasons All Ohio runner with a gutsy last mile to climb into 13th, with his time of 16:48. Jacob Feicks continued to shine as Bay’s forth man as he attempted to leapfrog many people who previously finished ahead of him. Jacob posted a fine score of 31 as he tried to hang in the top 24 for an individual State berth. His 17:17 really helped the team solidify it’s hold on second place.
Kenzie Deibel was again able to help his team as fifth man for the second week in a row, this time with his 53rd place run of 17:38. Ezra Fleeman and Trevor Ifft also ran for the Rockets. The Bay Men’s Cross Country team heads for Hebron Ohio this weekend for a well earned place in the Ohio State Cross Country Championship
